The suppliers of our products are a crucial part of what we do at Margiotta - just like us, they care about what they do and work hard to create something very special which we’re proud to stock in our stores. We work with some fantastic producers in Edinburgh, around Scotland and further afield and are always looking for new one-of-a-kind suppliers who can offer our customers something unique (and delicious!).
Here’s a small selection of the brilliant businesses whose products you’ll find on our shelves.
Waitrose
In 2021, we reached out to Waitrose to see if we could work together to bring their products to our stores. We couldn’t have imagined that such a large, well known brand would want to work with this small family business in Edinburgh. To our delight, they agreed! We still operate fully independent as a family, but now have the privilege to stock around 2000 of their most popular products; from ready meals, free-from and vegan ranges, to prepared fruit and vegetables, meat, snacks and store cupboard staples!
Hugh Grierson Organic
We have been working with Hugh Grierson Organic for over 20 years. They are part of a traditional family farm in Perthshire, Scotland. They pride themselves in the way they run their farm and the produce that comes from these traditional techniques of connecting ecology, people and a sustainable way of living. You can order their meat via their website and have your order available to pick up at any of our stores for free!
The Farmer’s Son
The Farmer's Son is based in the beautiful Fife countryside. Their products are handmade using ethically sourced ingredients and sustainable farming practices and crafted in small batches, for only the finest quality and freshness. They produce food how 'it used to taste', taking time, hard work and care to make sure quality is never compromised. They only use the finest all-natural Scottish ingredients, to produce award-winning artisanal Haggis, Black Pudding, White Pudding and Lorne Sausage.
Belhaven Smokehouse
Belhaven Smokehouse is an artisan business, driven by a love of fine Scottish seafood. Based just outside Dunbar, they are known for their fabulous smoked salmon and trout which are made using artisanal curing and smoking techniques so our customers can enjoy premium smoked fish.
Puddledub
Artisanal bacon and pork from locally sourced, Scottish SPCA assured outdoor-bred pigs. Based on a family farm in Auchtertool, West Fife, the Mitchell family really care about what they do, starting by ensuring the highest welfare standard for their pigs. They use traditional methods at their butchery, dry-curing the bacon and hand-linking every sausage.
Artisan Roast
Edinburgh’s much-loved Artisan Roast has been specialty coffee since 2007, working with people that work tirelessly to produce exceptional coffee. The team believe in building long-lasting relationships with these farmers, ensuring that they receive fair, sustainable prices for their work and have an ability to continue producing game-changing coffee. We collaborated with them to make our very own Margiotta Roast, which we sell in our stores.
The Butchery
The Butchery is located in Lockerbie, Dumfries & Galloway. We have partnered with them to bring you the highest quality beef produce to our stores. The Butchery team has almost 50 years of combined experience in the butcher industry, with a focus on high-quality service and product expertise. The Butchery’s animal welfare policy emphasizes humane treatment, regulatory compliance, certified staff, and transparency in sourcing and processing, ensuring that all meat products reflect the highest standards of animal welfare.
Mrs Unis Spicy Foods
Mrs Unis Spicy Foods was originally started by Mrs Shaheen Unis in 1967. Based in Edinburgh, the company produces authentic handmade Indian snacks, nan breads and chappatis. Made using only the finest herbs, spices, halal meats and vegetables to ensure the highest quality and authenticity.
Phantassie Organic
Phantassie Organic supply us with the most wonderful organic fruit and vegetables, grown at their market garden in East Linton, rural East Lothian. Their large unheated polytunnels enable the team to extend the growing seasons and provide a variety of vegetables all year round, supplementing with veg from other local organic growers, as well as England and Europe, never airfreighted and Fairtrade if applicable.
Cult Coffee Roasters
Based just outside Edinburgh, Cult Coffee sources and roasts some of the highest quality coffees in the world, showcasing seasonality with an evolving range of special coffee, building relationships with importers, exporters and farmers along the way. We have collaborated with them to bring you our very own Cult Coffee Margiotta blend, which we sell in store.
Otherworld Brewing
Otherworld Brewing is an independent brewery located in Dalkeith. Established in 2022, they specialise in producing modern sour and mixed fermentation beers
Mellis Cheese
Established in 1993, Mellis is a trader in fine farmhouse and artisan cheese, boasting over 30 years of experience in the industry. Founded by Iain Mellis, the ethos of the business revolves around traditional, old-fashioned style and service, coupled with modern technology to preserve and enhance the unique characteristics of the cheese.
